Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTJun 26, 2012 - UTC Power, a unit of US United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX), said Tuesday that it had supplied two 400-kW fuel cell systems to Saint Francis Care in Hartford, Connecticut.
The healthcare organisation has installed the PureCell stationary fuel cells at its main campus and at its Mount Sinai campus, with the systems to supply 10% and 42%, respectively, of each campus' electrical needs. Furthermore, the hospitals will use the thermal energy from the fuel cells to serve heating loads.
Thanks to the two new PureCell units, Saint Francis is to offset 939 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission a year, and also cut its volume of nitrogen oxide emission. In addition, the fuel cells will allow the hospital to save more than 2.8 million gallons (10.6 million litres) of water per year.
