MGM Resorts to offtake power from 115-MW solar project in Nevada
Sep 12, 2024 16:38 CESTFrench energy group TotalEnergies (EPA:TTE) has sealed a deal to supply with green power some of the US and Canadian industrial sites of building materials maker Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA (EPA:SGO).
Under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA), the Paris-based manufacturing group will receive solar power from 100 MW coming from a 400-MW solar project in Texas, Saint-Gobain said on Wednesday.

The electricity will be sourced from TotalEnergies’ Danish Fields Solar project, which is planned to become operational by the end of next year. The contracted power volumes will go to 125 industrial sites that Saint-Gobain owns in North America, helping it save 90,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
Danish Fields is the third PPA signed in North America by Saint-Gobain. The French building materials maker is already procuring electricity from an Invenergy LLC-owned wind farm in Illinois that was switched on in 2021. Last year, it agreed a 200-MW deal with TotalEnergies for 200 MW of solar power from its compatriot’s Cottonwood Bayou Solar project in Texas.
Saint-Gobain has set a goal cutting its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 33% by the end of the decade and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
