French building materials maker Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA (EPA:SGO) has signed its second renewable power offtake agreement in Romania, securing about 800 GWh from wind and solar sources provided by local energy supplier OMV Petrom SA (BSE:SNP).

The parties have signed a five-year power purchase agreement (PPA) which is set to come into force as of January 2026, according to a press statement published Thursday.

The deal with OMV Petrom, coupled with an agreement reached with French energy major Engie SA in 2022, will cover 100% of Saint-Gobain’s electricity needs in the Balkan country.

The two partnerships in Romania are part of SaintGobain's net zero carbon emissions goal by 2050.

In March, the French firm issued its first green bond, a two-tranch transaction raising EUR 2 billion (USD 2.14bn) to finance projects aligned with the European taxonomy.
