Samoa to take USD 4m from local fund for 400-kW solar project - report

(ADPnews) - Jun 22, 2011 - Samoa will draw USD 4 million (EUR 2.8m) from the Pacific Environment Community (PEC) Fund for a 400-kW solar photovoltaic (PV) installation, news site Finance GreenWatch reported.

The country has become the first to access the fund, which was established by Japan to support solar power and seawater desalination projects in the countries from the Pacific Islands Forum. Japan has committed JPY 6.8 billion (USD 85m/EUR 59m) to the PEC fund.
