South African chemicals and energy company Sasol Ltd (JSE:SOL) and French industrial gas supplier Air Liquide (EPA:AI) have signed their fourth joint power offtake deal, agreeing to procure 110 MW of wind energy from a unit of Italian utility Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) in South Africa.

The contracted power will be sourced from a wind farm to be built by Enel Green Power RSA. The site will be located in the Eastern Cape province and is expected to become operational by 2026, according to a statement released today.

The procured power will be used at Sasol’s Secunda site in South Africa where Air Liquide operates 16 oxygen production units acquired from the local company a few years back.

Sasol and Air Liquide have now jointly contracted around 690 MW of renewable power for the complex.

Three other PPAs were sealed in 2023, most recently with Mainstream Renewable Power in November. The fourth offtake agreement is their second with Enel Green Power (EGP).
