A unit of Paris-based engineering group Assystem has been selected as a partner to conduct pre-development studies for renewable energy parks in Saudi Arabia.

Assystem Radicon has signed a 3-year Framework Consultancy Agreement with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) which is responsible for predevelopment, tendering and energy offtake from power generation projects in the Kingdom, according to a LinkedIn post by the engineering company.

With offices in Tabuk, Riyadh, Al Khobar and Yanbu, Assystem Radicon has been providing engineering services in Saudi Arabia for 30 years. "Assystem Radicon's experts are also assisting Saudi Arabia with its ambition to produce 58GW of electricity from renewable sources, mostly photovoltaic, by 2040. We have also carried out site and impact studies for a solar plant with a capacity of 100 MW," according to the company website.

In June, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy launched a geographical survey aimed at identifying the best sites for developing more renewable energy projects in the Kingdom.
