Saudi Arabia unveils qualified bidders for 3.7 GW of solar projects

Masdar, EDF Renouvelables and TotalEnergies are among the companies qualified to compete for four solar projects with a combined capacity of 3.7 GW offered in Saudi Arabia's fifth round of renewable energy tenders.

The projects will be awarded under the National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP).

The list of qualified bidders was issued by the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) and published by the state-owned Saudi Press Agency. It includes also Al Jomaih Energy & Water Co; Alfanar Company; B. Grimm Power Public Company; BGL Renewable Energy Systems Installation; FAS Energy KSA LLC; ITOCHU Corp; Jinko Power (HK); Kahrabel FZE; Korea; Electric Power Corp; Marubeni Corp; Nebras Power; Nesma Renewable Energy; Samsung C&T Corporation; SPIC Huanghe; Hydropower Development Co and Sumitomo Corp.

GEK TERNA, Gulf Energy Development Public Company, Jera Co., Power Construction Corporation of China, and Saudi Electricity Company are also on the list.

So far, SPPC has granted more than 12.6 GW of renewable energy capacity through NREP to support Saudi Arabia's strategy to reach 50% renewables in the power mix by the end of this decade.
