Latin American-focused data centre platform Scala Data Centers and Brazilian clean energy investor Serena Energia SA (BVMF:SRNA3) have signed a power supply deal tied to 393 MW of wind parks.

Under the terms of the agreement, Scala will hold stakes in the assets in question -- the Assurua 4 and Ventos da Bahia 3 wind farms, both located in the northeastern state of Bahia.

Power supply is scheduled to commence in January 2025, with the possibility of an earlier start.

Scala said in a statement that the wind power will help meet the demands of its Hyperscale data centres, including mixed AI workloads. The agreement also triples the amount of renewable energy available to serve its clients for over a decade.

The transaction is subject to the fulfilment of customary conditions, Scala noted.
