Scatec Solar ASA (OSL:SSO) of Norway is eying up to 500 MW of solar projects in Iran and intends to start with a scheme of about 120 MW, its CEO told Reuters.

The investment in the project is estimated at about USD 132 million (EUR 110m), Raymond Carlsen was cited as saying. Talks are in progress.

The solar park builder and operator currently has a fleet of 322 MW in the Czech Republic, South Africa, Rwanda, Honduras and Jordan, and a project backlog of 1,143 MW, according to its website.

Scatec’s interview with Reuters, published late last week, preceded an announcement by London-based Quercus Investment Partners Ltd that it will invest in a 600-MW solar project in Iran.
