Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTOslo-based Scatec Solar ASA (OSL:SSO) said today that, alongside its partners, the company has connected to the grid a 40-MW solar power plant in Mozambique.
The photovoltaic (PV) park is located close to the city of Mocuba in Zambezia Province and is capable of generating some 79 GWh per year, enough to meet the annual consumption of around 175,000 homes. This is the first large-scale solar project in the country, according to CEO Raymond Carlsen.
Scatec Solar owns a 52.5% stake in the plant, while KLP Norfund Investments holds 22.5% and EDM -Electricidade de Mozambique has the remaining shares. The plant operates under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned utility EDM. The contract was signed in October 2016.
Including this facility, Scatec Solar now has 951 MW in operation and a further 953 MW under construction around the world.
