Norwegian renewable power producer Scatec ASA (OSL:SCATC) on Friday inaugurated two solar solar farms totalling 36 MW collocated with 20 MW/19 MWh of battery energy storage in northern Cameroon.

The plants, located in the towns of Maroua and Guider, were delivered by the company’s Release by Scatec vehicle, which offers pre-assembled easy-to-deploy solar power and battery storage solutions under lease agreements.

Release signed a lease agreement with Cameroonian power company Eneo in 2021.

The Maroua and Guider facilities are equipped with over 44,800 bifacial solar panels mounted on trackers. The projects have been carried out in phases. Now fully operational, the plants will generate around 80 GWh of electricity per year, improving the supply to regions prone to experiencing outages, Scatec said.
