Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTNevis Renewable Energy International Inc (NREI) has picked a drilling contractor for the initial 10-MW phase of a geothermal power plant project on the Caribbean island of Nevis.
NREI has hired Schlumberger Integrated Drilling Services (IDS), of Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB), to install geothermal production and injection wells for the island project. The drilling company will work with its geothermal unit GeothermEx on the design, installation and testing of the Nevis wells, NREI said Thursday.
Nevis, one of two islands that make up the nation of St. Kitts and Nevis, has a geothermal reservoir with enough generating capacity to meet all present and future power needs of the Caribbean haven, according to NREI.
The company, a subsidiary of Texas-based Thermal Energy Partners LLC, has teamed up with the Nevis Island Administration to develop the geothermal project.
