Solarvest lands USD-26m solar EPCC job in Malaysia, posts profit bump
Sep 03, 2024 8:58 CESTMalaysian packaging firm and property developer Scientex Berhad (KLSE:SCIENTX) has selected local solar firm Solarvest Holdings Bhd (KLSE:SLVEST) for a project that will see the installation of about 21 MW of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across the group’s facilities in the country.
The contract covers 10 manufacturing plants and Scientex’ headquarters. The project is set to start this month and be completed by January 2025. Once commissioned, the sites will eliminate about 14,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, Scientex said in a statement on Thursday.
Scientex has been integrating renewable energy into its operations since 2022 as part of its carbon footprint reduction strategy. With the commissioning of the new capacities, more than 80% of the company’s manufacturing sites in Malaysia will use renewable energy with solar systems.
