US renewable energy company Scout Clean Energy said on Wednesday it has signed a deal with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) to sell electricity from a 147.5-MW wind project under the agency’s community choice energy programme.

The power purchase agreement (PPA) is tied to the output of Scout Clean Energy’s Gonzaga Ridge wind farm, which is currently being built in California’s in Merced County. Once in operation, the plant will generate enough electricity to supply 385,000 customers enrolled in SFPUC’s CleanPowerSF programme.

The contract also covers the Gonzaga Ridge project’s 50-MW energy storage component.

The wind turbine complex, which will be a redevelopment of an existing wind farm at the same site in Pacheco Park, is scheduled to become operational in May 2026. The plant will be the largest-ever single source of wind energy for the CleanPowerSF programme, which already has contracts to off-take electricity from more than 600 MW of new solar, wind and geothermal projects.
