UK-based offshore energy support vessel (OESV) operator Seacat Services has placed an order for a new catamaran in what is said to be a multi-million-pound contract.

The new vessel, Seacat Weatherly, can accommodate 24 personal and four crew members serving the growing offshore wind industry in the UK and Europe, with opportunities for new farms opening up elsewhere in the global market. The contract, worth an unspecified amount, includes an option for a second vessel joining the Seacat Services fleet, the boat’s designer, naval architect Chartwell Marine, said Tuesday.

The construction of the catamaran has been entrusted to the Isle of Wight-based companies, shipyard Diverse Marine and boat builder Aluminium Marine Consultants (AMC).

Seacat Weatherly will be ready to set sail after March 2020 when the construction is scheduled to finalise.
