Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries Ltd (SGX:U96) said on Tuesday it has won a government tender for the installation of 117 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) plants in the Asian country’s Jurong Island.

The competitive round was held by government agency JTC Corporation. Under the award, which Sembcorp says concerns the largest solar power project awarded by a public sector agency in Singapore, the company will handle the construction of ground-mounted and rooftop PV systems atop five buildings.

Last month, Sembcorp pledged to invest about SGD 10.5 billion (USD 7.8bn/EUR 7.2bn) in renewables in 2023-2028, or 75% of its total investments in the period, to back its goal of having 25 GW of gross installed renewables capacity and cutting its carbon emissions by half by 2028. The company claims to be the largest green power provider in its home country, with a gross installed solar capacity of 702 MWp.
