ABP presents plan to turn Port of Barrow into renewables hub
Sep 18, 2024 14:41 CESTSingapore’s Sembcorp Marine Ltd (SGX:S51) has completed the fabrication of the offshore substation and reactive compensation station for the 1.4-GW Hornsea Two offshore wind farm in the UK.
The substations, to be delivered to Optimus Wind Ltd, a subsidiary of Denmark’s Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED), started their journey from Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard in Singapore on Sunday, the company said.
The substations will reach the wind farm site at the end of September and will be installed on their jacket foundations that were delivered by Sembcorp Marine last year. Hornsea Two is due to come online next year when it will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm.
Sembcorp Marine also led the engineering, procurement, hook-up and commissioning works for the substations.
The company said the project accelerates its expansion into the renewable and clean energy sector. Green energy solutions accounted for about 34% of its net order book of SGD 1.78 billion (USD 1.3bn/EUR 1.1bn) as at end-June, it noted.
