Singapore lines up 1.4 GW of solar imports from Indonesia, ups goal
Sep 06, 2024 12:53 CESTSembcorp Industries (SGX:U96) will install, own and operate three rooftop solar systems with a combined capacity of 7.9 MWp for Singaporean industrial real estate investor Cache Logistics Trust (SGX:K2LU), the companies announced yesterday.
Over 20,000 solar panels will be installed on top of three Cache warehouse hubs in Singapore to produce about 9,400 MWh annually, enough to power more than 2,000 four-room apartments.
The system, to become fully operational in mid-2019, will significantly reduce Cache’s carbon footprint by cutting close to 4 million kilogrammes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. Any excess electricity will flow to the grid.
The deal between Sembcorp and Cache includes the construction of what is touted as Singapore’s largest rooftop solar facility. A system of 6.2 MWp will be installed at Cache’s Commodity Hub.
Financial details have not been disclosed. It was only announced that the deal will not have any material impact on Sembcorp’s or Cache’s earnings for 2019.
