The European Investment Bank (EIB) is considering lending EUR 100 million (USD 106m) to Sener Ingenieria Y Sistemas SA so it could develop innovative engineering solutions for a number of sectors including renewables.

Sener Ingenieria seeks funds for a research, development and innovation (RDI) programme in Spain, with the goal of creating engineering solutions for the renewable energy, space and railway sectors, as well as an information technology (IT) platform for the design and construction of ships.

The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR 210 million.

EIB has been considering the matter since February 10, 2017. The bank notes that this project does not require an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) because the planned activities will be conducted at existing facilities without changing their already authorised scope.
