Renewables developer CWP Europe intends to build a hybrid wind-solar park in Serbia to add 350 MW of total power generation capacity in the Balkan country’s eastern district of Zajecar.

A detailed plan for the project was released by the city of Zajecar last week and the proposal will be open for initial public consultations until the end of July.

The Vida project calls for the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels along with wind turbine generators in the city of Zajecar, with the complex set to cover 3,870 ha of land. The construction of a substation, a distribution switchgear and a battery energy storage system (BESS) are also part of the plan.

The project will be realised by a special purpose vehicle called Vida Power.

CWP Europe is part of CWP Global, which has been active in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) since 2010. Presently, the company is working on an over 7-GW portfolio of wind, solar and battery storage projects in Southeast Europe in a joint venture with Mercuria. Among its operational assets in the region are the 158-MW Cibuk wind farm in Serbia and the 600-MW Fantanele-Cogealac wind park in Romania.
