Jordan Green agrees land deal for solar-powered green ammonia hub
Sep 20, 2024 5:52 CESTBELGRADE (Serbia), September 20 (SeeNews) – The Serbian town of Leskovac said it plans to build a 3.5 million euro ($4.6 million) solar power plant in cooperation with local assembler of electricity-powered motor vehicles Globus Auto.
The power plant, with installed capacity of nearly one megawatt, will be located on a hill overlooking the village of Velika Biljanica near Leskovac, in southern Serbia, the town mayor's office said in a statement late on Friday. Construction works are expected to start in the spring of next year.
The location of Velika Biljanica was chosen on the recommendation of Serbia’s hydro-meteorological service because the village has about 200 sunny days per year.
The photovoltaic power plant, which will be the first of its kind in Serbia, is expected to provide electricity to about 800 households in Leskovac and will cut carbon dioxide emissions by about 1,500 tonnes per year, the statement said.
Globus Auto is based in Pancevo, in the country’s north.
