Serbia's Mlekara Lazar Signs $1.5 Mln Biogas Plant Deal with U.S.-based GHD Inc.

BELGRADE (Serbia), February 21 (SeeNews) – Serbian dairy producer Mlekara Lazar said it has signed a deal with U.S.-based GHD Inc. worth about $1.5 million (1.1 million euro) for the construction of a bio gas plant.

“With the construction of this facility Mlekara Lazar will solve the problem of biodegradable waste from the farm and the dairy unit, such as whey and manure, by using it as fuel for the production of bio gas and electricity,” the company said in a statement late on Friday.

The bio gas plant will be built at a dairy cow farm in Blace, in the south, where Mlekara Lazar is based.

Construction works are expected to start in the autumn and the investment will be paid out in three years, the statement said.

Mlekara Lazar processes about 50,000 litres of milk per day. Its installed capacity is 80,000 litres per day. The company was set up in 1994 and employs 160.

GHD Inc. (www.ghdinc.net) is a provider of renewable energy and waste management solutions based on the process of anaerobic digestion. It is based in Chilton, Wisconsin.
