Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTSerbian dairy products and ethyl alcohol maker Vinex Etil has completed the construction of a 4.8 million euro ($5.4 million) biogas-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Lukicevo, near the city of Zrenjanin, the city government said.
"The 2.2 MW biogas plant is designed to produce heat and electricity. We will use thermal energy for the production of bioethanol, i.e. medical ethyl alcohol, and we will sell electricity," the Zrenjanin city government quoted Vinex Etil owner Goran Ilic as saying in a press release on Wednesday.
The completed project solves the problem of unpleasant smell from the dairy farm of Vinex Etil in Lukicevo, Zrenjanin mayor Cedomir Janjic said during the opening ceremony at the biogas-fired CHP plant.
Vinex Etil has been operating in Lukicevo, in northern Serbia, since 2013, when it opened a 2 million euro farm for 400 dairy cows. The second phase of the investment was the construction of a 2.5 million euro bioethanol factory.
