Dutch renewable gas producer Sustainable Fuel Plant Group (SFP), a portfolio company of French-based SWEN Capital Partners, said it has raised financing of EUR 120 million (USD 131.2m) to construct two 20-MW biomethane plants in the Netherlands.

The facilities will increase the company’s production capacity to 800 GWh of biomethane per year, SFP said in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday. This is sufficient to meet the needs of 50,000 households.

The green loan was provided by Dutch lenders ABN Amro Bank and ING Groep NV as well as Paris-based private debt specialist Zencap Asset Management. SWEN Capital Partners also participated.

“This important step strengthens our position in the biomethane sector and enables us to contribute even more to a sustainable and clean future,” SFP said.

ABN Amro said in a separate statement that the move underscores its dedication to sustainable financing and promoting renewable energy sources.

Established in 2020, SFP currently operates its SFP Zeeland facility and intends to develop, build and operate between eight and ten plants by 2030, focusing on growth in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Spain and Italy.
