Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTScotland-based renewables consultancy SgurrEnergy Ltd said on Wednesday it will erect four lattice tower masts at different sites in the Republic of Malawi as part of a two-year wind measurement project.
The company will manufacture the four SgurrMetMasts for the campaign in South Africa, it said.
Commenting on the news, SgurrEnergy’s measurement team leader, Iain Gillespie, said that this project will lay the groundwork for four potential wind parks spread across the African country. The company will build on the work it carried out in 2014, when it successfully installed two met masts in Malawi as part of the wider Malawi Renewable Energy Acceleration Programme (MREAP).
SgurrEnergy is also engaged in the development of hydropower in Malawi as it manages the Powering Development in Mulanje Project on behalf of the Scottish government. More specifically, the firm is consulting on a micro-hydro project that seeks to improve the electricity supply to local communities.
