Singapore lines up 1.4 GW of solar imports from Indonesia, ups goal
Sep 06, 2024 12:53 CESTJapanese renewables developer Shizen Energy Inc announced on Wednesday that its joint venture (JV) PT ATW Alam Hijau (Alam Energy) has secured an IDR-41-billion (USD 2.6m/EUR 2.4m) loan to develop rooftop solar power installations in Indonesia.
Specifically, the money will be used for the development, construction, and operation of solar power installations for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers.
The project-based financing was granted by PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI), an Indonesian financial institution under the Ministry of Finance of Indonesia.
“This financing will enable manufacturers and other customers in Indonesia to convert part of their electricity consumption to renewable energy sources, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions from their business operations and contributing to the Indonesian government’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2060,” said Soichiro Nishimori, President Director of Alam Energy.
Alam Energy is a jointly established firm between Shizen Energy, Alamport Inc and NiX JAPAN Co Ltd, as well as solar power equipment provider ATW Group, Shizen noted.
