Japan's Eneos joins 75-MW Norwegian floating offshore wind project
Sep 18, 2024 12:10 CESTNordic renewable energy company Cloudberry Clean Energy ASA (OSE:CLOUD) reported that a 22-tonne blade from one of the turbines at the 160-MW Odal wind farm in Norway has fallen off leading to the temporary shut down of the site.
The incident took place on Wednesday night. No personal injuries or other material damages have been registered, according to a press statement.
The collapse of the 71-metre-long (232 ft) wind turbine blade comes at a time when nearly half of the machines at the site are not working amid an ongoing process conducted by turbine maker Siemens Gamesa for the repair of previously identified manufacturing defects. Fifteen out of the 34 turbines were stopped in March.
Cloudberry noted in its press statement that technical staff with Siemens Gamesa is already at the site. Together with Odal Vind representatives, they will conduct a thorough investigation of the cause of the incident.
The Odal wind farm is located in Engerfjellet and Songkjolen in Innlandet county, Nord-Odal municipality. Equipped with turbines of 4.8 MW each, the site was energised in September 2022. The facility is owned by Cloudberry, Akershus Energi and Norway’s pension fund KLP.
