Low Carbon unveils plan for 500-MW solar-storage hub in Kent
Nov 13, 2024 7:09 CESTWind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa has received an over GBP-1-billion (USD 1.28bn/EUR 1.21bn) order to supply its hardware for the 960-MW East Anglia TWO offshore wind project in UK waters.
The manufacturer, a division of Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR), will deliver 64 units of its SG 14-236 DD offshore turbines for the project off the Suffolk coast in the North Sea, it said on Tuesday.
The GBP-4-billion project is developed by Scottish Power Renewables.
Siemens Gamesa will build the 115 metre-long turbine blades at its Hull factory.
East Anglia TWO in September secured a contract in the UK government’s renewables auction. Shortly after the award, ScottishPower hired Sif Holding NV and Smulders to supply the monopile foundations and transition pieces and Denmark’s Cadeler A/S to transport and install the turbines and foundations.
Once in operation, East Anglia TWO will be able to produce electricity to meet the demand of almost one million homes. The wind park will be part of a larger complex of three offshore wind parks along with the operational East Anglia ONE and East Anglia THREE, which is currently under construction. All three parks will use Siemens Gamesa turbines.
