Siemens Gamesa units put up first turbine in Podvelezje wind farm in Bosnia

A consortium comprising Croatia's Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and Denmark's Siemens Wind Power, both units of Spanish engineering company Siemens Gamesa, installed the first turbine in the 48 MW Podvelezje wind farm in Bosnia, state-controlled electricity producer Elektroprivreda BiH [SAJ:JPESR] said.

"If the weather conditions allow it, all turbines will be installed and the wind farm will be more or less completed by the end of the year," EPBiH's executive head for capital investments, Senad Salkic, said in a company statement on Friday.

The Podvelezje wind farm, which is being built near the southern town of Mostar, is planned to have 15 turbines. It is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2021 and will have an estimated annual electricity production of some 130 GWh.

EPBiH has signed a 30-year concession contract for the project with the government of Bosnia's southern Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The project will be financed by a loan from German development bank KfW and EPBiH's own funding.

EPBiH said earlier that the KfW loan will be in the amount of 65 million euro ($77 million), whereas EPBiH will invest 3 million euro.
