Dutch steel tubulars manufacturer Sif Holding NV (AMS:SIFG), in cooperation with Smulders, will supply 64 monopile foundations and transition pieces for ScottishPower Renewables’s East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm of up to 960 MW in the UK.

The two fabricators said last week that the unit of Spanish utility Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) has contracted Sif Netherlands to provide 64 monopiles, and a joint venture between Sif and Smulders to supply 64 transition pieces.

Sif will manufacture the monopiles at its expanded production site at Maasvlakte 2 in Rotterdam. The transition pieces will be produced at Sif’s Roermond facility in the Netherlands for the primary steel works, and outfitted at Smulders’ Hoboken site in Belgium. The completed monopiles and transition pieces will be loaded onto installation or transport vessels from Sif’s deepsea quay at Maasvlakte 2.

The production of monopiles and transition pieces is set to begin in the second half of 2026. The project, previously listed in the 2026 order books of Sif and Smulders under exclusive negotiations, has now been made final.

This comes soon after the GBP-4-billion (USD 5.2bn/EUR 4.8bn) East Anglia TWO project secured a contract in the UK government’s contracts for difference (CfD) Allocation Round 6.

Iberdrola recently set out plans to accelerate its investment in the UK.
