Sinohydro keen to invest in alternative energy in Belarus - report

Jul 30, 2013 - Chinese Sinohydro Group Ltd (SHA:601669) is interested in investing in alternative energy and infrastructure projects in Belarus, local news agency BelTA said on Friday.

Representatives of the Chinese state-owned hydropower project contractor have discussed its intentions with the Belarusian National Agency for Investment and Privatization (NAIP), according to the news agency.

With a personnel of 130,000 people, Sinohydro in engaged in the engineering and construction of hydropower plants. At present it is working on 311 projects, worth about USD 29 million (EUR 21.9m), in 70 countries.

Another Chinese company -- China Nuclear Power Engineering Corp (CNPEC) -- plans to install 300 MW of solar capacity in Belarus, BelTa said in May. The company is to start with a 10-MW solar facility in the Mogilev region of Belarus under an alternative energy partnership with the local authorities.
