BP Bunge chairman becomes president of BP in Brazil
Sep 09, 2024 14:06 CESTOct 1, 2013 - Brazilian-US sugar, ethanol and bioelectricity firm SJC Bioenergia will open tomorrow an ethanol and power production plant in the central-western state of Goias, for BRL 500 million (USD 225.5m/EUR 166.400), director Ingo Kalder said.
The facility, located in Cachoeira Dourada, southern Goias, will have a apacity to process 2.5 million tonnes of cane sugar a year and produce 220 million litres of ethanol, hydrous or anhydrous. The output will be enough to power 200,000 vehicles a year. The plant, with a capacity of 230,000 MW a year and will supply energy to 25,000 households.
SJC Bioenergia is a joint venture set up in September 2011 by US agribusiness group Cargill Inc and Brazilian sugar and ethanol producer USJ Acucar e Alcool. SJC Bioenergia operates another ethanol plant in Goias, located in the municipality of Quirinopolis.
Goias already has 37 operational ethanol plants which employ 100,000 people directly and indirectly.
