French power producer Sonnedix has contracted Berlin-based Skytron Energy GmbH to provide monitoring and supervision technology for the 57.6-MW Oriana solar power plant in Isabela, Puerto Rico.

Skytron will equip the solar power station with its technology, including the PVGuard platform that monitors all internal and external components locally. The technology visualises and filters relevant information and identifies issues that could potentially result in yield losses.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

The Oriana facility, which includes an energy storage battery, is the largest solar park in the Caribbean. It was built by Greek firm METKA-EGN and hooked to the grid in September 2016. The plant’s annual electricity production is estimated at more than 100,000 MWh, which would be enough to meet the consumption of more than 12,000 homes.
