Slovakian climate tech investor Janom Investments said on Thursday that it is making an entry into the Croatian solar power market with a 30-MW project

The project, set in the region of Slavonia, is to be the first of a number of renewable energy investments that Janom is prepared to make in Croatia.

"We have been following the potential for the development of renewable energy sources in Croatia for a long time. The investment in the solar plant in Slavonia is our first, but certainly not the last," CEO Andrej Srsen said.

The Bratislava-based firm plans to follow up on this investment with projects totalling over 200 MW, which will require around EUR 300 million (USD 323.1m) in funding, according to Srsen.

Janom operates several solar farms and hydroelectric plants in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The firm also owned wind farms in Finland, but sold them later last year to Germany’s Aquila Capital.
