Elektro Ljubljana banks EUR-50m EIB loan for grid expansion, upgrade
Sep 02, 2024 15:52 CESTSlovenia has achieved its goal for a 25% share of energy from renewable sources in its gross final energy consumption for 2020 thanks to the statistical transfer of 465 GWh renewable energy surplus from the Czech Republic, the Slovenian statistical office said.
The goal was set in the directive on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources of the EU Commission, the statistical office said in a statement earlier this week.
The share of renewable energy in Slovenia's heating and cooling sector was 32.1%, in the electricity sector 35.1% and in the transport sector 10.9% and the 10% sectoral target for transport was also achieved, the statistical office said.
In December, the Czech Republic's industry ministry said it has signed an agreement to statistically transfer a 465 GWh renewable energy surplus to Slovenia for about 5 million euro ($5.7 million).
Exclusing the contribution of the statistical transfer, Slovenia's share of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption was 24.1% in 2020.
