Slovenia's DEM starts building fifth segment of Zlatolicje PV project

Slovenian hydro power producer Dravske Elektrarne Maribor (DEM), a unit of state-owned electricity producer and trader Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE), has started the construction of the fifth segment of the Zlatolicje photovoltaic project, HSE said.

A total of 5,840 pieces of highly efficient photovoltaic modules of Chinese manufacturer Yingli Energy, with a total rated power of almost 2.7 MWp and a planned annual output of approximately 3,000 MWh, will be installed, HSE said in a statement on Monday.

HTZ Velenje, also a unit of HSE, will partially finance the project through a loan taken from Nova Kreditna Banka Maribor in September, HSE added.

"The construction is expected to be completed by the end of this year, and the power plant is expected to be connected to the grid in the first quarter of 2022," HTZ Velenje CEO Nina Mauhler said in the statement.

The Zlatolicje photovoltaic project envisages the construction in the next few years of a power plant with total rated output of some 30 Mwp and expected annual electricity production of 37,000 MWh.

Segment five will be located on the left bank of the drainage channel of the largest Slovenian hydroelectric power plant Zlatolicje.
