Slovenia's HSE launches 3 MW solar plant

Slovenian state-owned electricity producer and trader Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) launched a 3 MW solar plant, the biggest in the country so far, in Prapretno, central Slovenia, in an area that was previously used for the deposition of fly ash and slag from a thermal power plant.

Prapretno photovoltaic plant started delivering electricity to the system as part of start-up and functional tests on March 28, HSE said in a statement on Friday.

Its average daily production is currently more than 10 MWh, and HSE expects that 6,748 modules will produce more than 3 GWh of electricity per year. The lifespan of the power plant is about twenty-five years.

According to HSE estimates, the plateau above Prapretno could host up to 13 MW of electrical power.

"In addition to continuing the construction of the Prapretno photovoltaic plant, we will invest in the expansion of the Zlatolicje-Formin solar power plant, and we also look forward to greater opportunities in the field of wind energy utilisation," HSE general manager Viktor Vracar said.
