Elektro Ljubljana banks EUR-50m EIB loan for grid expansion, upgrade
Sep 02, 2024 15:52 CESTLJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 26 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's net electricity production decreased by 16% month-on-month to 1,238 GWh in January, while total electricity consumption rose by 8% to 1,344 GWh, the statistical office said.
The January output of the country's hydro power plants decreased by 38% on a monthly comparison basis, the output of the thermal power plants fell by 9%, while the electricity production of Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant, Krsko, increased by 1% as compared to the December level, the office of statistics said in a statement, citing provisional data.
In line with the lower production at thermal power plants, fuel consumption in January 2020 decreased by 11%.
In January, 778 GWh of electricity was imported and 636 GWh was exported. Imports increased by 24% compared to the previous month, while export decreased by 22%.
Nuclear energy had the largest share of 41.9% in Slovenia's total power production in January, followed by thermal energy with 30.0%, hydro power plants with 26.8% and solar with 1.3%.
