Elektro Ljubljana banks EUR-50m EIB loan for grid expansion, upgrade
Sep 02, 2024 15:52 CESTLJUBLJANA (Slovenia), April 28 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's net electricity production rose by 8% month-on-month to 1,176 GWh in March, while total electricity consumption edged up 1% to 1,215 GWh, the statistical office said on Tuesday.
The March output of the country's hydro power plants increased by 47% on a monthly comparison basis to 342 GWh, the output of the thermal power plants fell 17% to 292 GWh, while the electricity production of Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant, Krsko, rose by 7% to 518 GWh, the office of statistics said in a statement, citing provisional data.
In March, 835 GWh of electricity was imported and 757 GWh was exported. Imports increased by 9% compared to the previous month, while export jumped 23%.
Nuclear energy had the largest share of 44% in Slovenia's total power production in March, followed by hydro energy with 29%, thermal power plants with 25% and solar with 2%.
In annual terms, Slovenia's net electricity production edged up 1% in March, with exports and imports falling 7% each compared to March 2019.
