French packaging group Albea agrees 12-MWp solar off-take deal
Sep 19, 2024 5:38 CESTOct 28, 2013 - French independent solar power producer SolaireDirect inaugurated last week a 7.7 MW solar park in Var department, southern France, capable of producing 12 GWh of electricity annually.
The renewable energy facility required an investment of EUR 12.1 million (USD 16.7m) and consists of 25,740 solar panels. The electricity output will be sufficient to cover the annual power consumption of 7,540 local inhabitants.
The solar park will prevent 6,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
SolaireDirect obtained a construction permit in February 2012, while the actual construction took place between March and September 2013. All works were accompanied by strict environmental control as the park is located in an area with valuable Mediterranean flora.
SolaireDirect runs altogether seven facilities in Var department with an installed capacity of 43 MW. Seven other installations will be placed in the same department next year.
