Solar-Fabrik donates solar systems to two African schools

(SeeNews) – Aug 20, 2012 - German solar module maker Solar-Fabrik AG (ETR:SFX) said last week it has donated photovoltaic (PV) modules with total capacity of 10.8kW to two schools in Africa.

The company delivered 74 modules with combined capacity of 9.2 kW to the Nyakrom Senior High Technical School in Ghana and a 1.6 kW solar system to the Yalegtenga Village School in Burkina Faso.

Solar-Fabrik’s aim with the installation of the two solar systems with its own modules was to bring 1,400 African students into contact with modern solar technology and to thereby contribute to improving the living and educational conditions in the two African states, the company said.

Apart from projects for schools or medical facilities in Africa, the company also sponsors PV-related student projects on an ongoing basis in the region. Solar-Fabrik said it sees off-grid solar power systems as an effective instrument for achieving sustainable development in the sunny regions of Africa.
