Solar module prices in Germany continue to fall in 2013

Feb 19, 2013 – The persistent downward trend in solar module prices is set to continue in 2013 as the German solar sector suffered new declines in January 2013.

The prices of German crystalline solar modules dropped by 1.3% to EUR 0.78 (USD 1.041) per Wp in January as compared with the previous month, according to the PVX spot market price index. Thin-film modules were selling at EUR 0.56 per Wp, down by 1.8% from December.

The average price of German solar modules in January declined by 27% in annual terms, while the decrease in thin-film modules was 18%.

Last month Chinese crystalline modules became by 1.9% cheaper and cost EUR 0.53 per Wp as compared with prices in December, while the annual decrease stood at around two thirds.
