UK solar power company Solarcentury has partnered with Swedish furniture retailer Ikea to start selling solar panels and domestic battery packages in the UK.

Since the start of August, the two companies offer Ikea customers to go solar and save up to 50% on electricity bills in four steps: get a quote, get a home survey, agree on final price and get the solar system installed by Solarcentury.

Batteries can be purchased in a bundle with the photovoltaic modules or as a stand alone product with a storage capacity of 3 kWh or 6 kWh.

Prices start at GBP 3,000 (USD 3,864 / EUR 3,293) for just the battery and at around GBP 7,000 for solar plus storage bundle.

Batteries will be supplied by Korean chemical company LG Chem Ltd (KRX:051910).
