Spanish solar power producer Solaria Energia y Medio Ambiente SA (BME:SLR) on Tuesday unveiled an agreement with Japanese technology company Datasection Inc (TYO:3905) to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) data centre at Solaria’s former industrial facilities in Puertollano in the Spanish province of Ciudad Real.

The agreement provides for the use of an up to 100,000-sq-m (1,076,391 sq ft) area in Solaria's facilities that have so-called “clean rooms” with a high level of insulation and air quality, used in the past for the production of photovoltaic (PV) cells, the Spanish company said. In the coming months, the site will house the server racks for the data centre.

The deal also provides for the supply of up to 200 MW of power, whose origin was not specified.

Solaria entered the data centre market earlier this year with the creation of a separate entity called Solaria Data Center.
