Solaris Energy opens factory in Barbados

Oct 30, 2012 - Trinidad and Tobago-based solar water heater company Solaris Energy Ltd has opened a new factory in Barbados, Caribbean News Now reported over the weekend.

The 8,000-sq ft (743 sq m) facility, located in Saint Philip, boosts Solaris Energy's production of solar water heaters and expands its product offering, according to the report. The company's Barbados subsidiary, Solaris Global Energy Ltd, which is a successor to Aqua Sol Ltd, will continue to manufacture flat plate solar water heaters and will also start making vacuum tube solar water heaters as well as photovoltaic (PV) products and systems.

Solaris Energy plans to install a 50-kW PV system at the factory by the end of the year. The installation is expected to generate enough power for the operations at the plant and to feed excess electricity into the grid.
