Spanish solar developer-operator Solarpack on Thursday announced the appointment of Robert Hienz as the CEO of its German unit as it focuses on building a EUR-1-billion business in Germany.

Hienz brings over 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, including leading a multi-million sales business at German energy group E.ON SE (ETR:EOAN) and being the CEO of The Mobility House, a smart charging solutions provider.

The company already has an office in Hamburg and projects in Germany. It said that it wants to establish a EUR-1-billion business in the country and have a portfolio of 7 GW of multi-technology renewable energy projects and 1 GW of power purchase agreements (PPAs) signed by the end of 2026.

Hienz, who will step into the CEO role on May 6, will be responsible for developing and executing Solarpack's market strategy in Germany, focusing on organic and inorganic growth, Solarpack added.

Solarpack is a portfolio company of Swedish investment group EQT AB (STO:EQT).
