Colombia's ANLA gets mandate to license renewables starting at 50 MW
Sep 17, 2024 12:44 CESTSpanish renewables company Solarpack has connected a 144-MWp solar PV plant, called La Union, to the power grid in Colombia, the firm said on Wednesday.
Now in commercial operation, the La Union solar farm, located in the municipality of Monteria, Cordoba department, will be able to generate enough electricity to power over 132,000 households annually, Solarpack said.
“[…] This milestone reinforces our commitment to support Colombia in its effort to reach its energy transition goals. Through our rapidly growing Latin America business unit, La Union consolidates our presence in Colombia and furthers Solarpack's commitment to sustainable growth in the region,” commented Leo Moreno, Solarpack’s global CEO.
The project required an investment of USD 100 million (EUR 93m), supported by a COP-denominated loan coordinated by IDB Invest and with a contribution from Bancolombia.
La Union and another Solarpack solar project were selected for 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) in Colombia’s renewable energy auction in October 2021.
