Malaysian solar installer Solarvest Holdings Bhd (KLSE:SLVEST) has been engaged to roll out solar at over 300 stations of Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas across the Southeast Asian country.

A Solarvest subsidiary, Solarvest Energy Sdn Bhd, has been awarded the job by Gentari Renewables Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Petronas’ clean energy platform Gentari Sdn Bhd.

The project is expected to start in April 2024. More than 5.4 MWp of solar capacity will be installed across more than 300 Petronas stations, with the solar systems seen to be completed by 2027. Solarvest will be the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning provider for the rooftop installations.

"This project shows us the potential of solar energy to decarbonise retail fuel business operations," said Davis Chong Chun Shiong, executive director and group chief executive of Solarvest.

According to him, businesses in Southeast Asia are actively seeking solutions to navigate the energy transition and the surge in demand is fueling the company’s tenderbook and orderbook. “Our ambition grows beyond Malaysia, we aim to drive the clean energy transition in the neighboring countries by tapping on Gentari’s global network,” he added.
