Nordic-Baltic TSOs conclude pre-feasibility study for hydrogen corridor
Sep 09, 2024 10:43 CESTElcogen, an Estonian developer of solid oxide electrolyser cell (SOEC) technology for green hydrogen production, is building a new factory in its home country to boost its manufacturing capacity to 360 MW by mid-2025.
The new production plant for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and solid oxide electrolyser cells (SOEC) is already under construction in Tallinn, the company said on Tuesday. The project is being realised with funds from a EUR-140-million (USD 150.7m) financing round in which US energy technology firm Baker Hughes took part earlier this month.

To be located within the Loovalja Industrial Park, the new factory will cover 14,000 sq m (150,695 sq ft). The project was developed with the help of Estonian building contractor Maru Ehitus AS.
“This new cutting-edge facility will boost our manufacturing capacity and generate efficiency gains leading to a remarkable 60% cost reduction,” said chief operating officer Stefano Piscitelli. He added that the new factory will serve as an industrial platform for Elcogen’s global expansion.
Elcogen was established in 2001. The company has its registered office in the UK and manufacturing facilities in Estonia and Finland with a combined capacity of 10 MW.
