Solomon Islands govt to supply local homes with solar systems - report

Aug 28, 2012 - The Western province of Solomon Islands will provide 28 households in Central Ranogah with solar power systems with capacities ranging from 10 watts to 20 watts to power their homes, daily Solomon Star said Monday.

The Western provincial government supplies the panels under its livelihood fund project to help the local villages improve their lives.

This is the first phase of the solar system support to households for the current year, the next one will be carried out before it ends, the daily said citing a spokesperson to the provincial ward member.

The solar panels were shipped to the province on Sunday and are slated for delivery in the current week, the paper said.
